More Double Exposures

These are a couple more double exposures I did on a dslr, even on a higher end camera I still don't really like the look of two images of different things merged into one. The first image I preferred as two separate images as they're interesting enough on their own but I decided to try double exposing them and seeing the outcome. In my mind the image just looks too cluttered without any organisation of the two images.

 As for the Double Exposure shots I do quite like how they turned out, they are very abstract to me as you very rarely see strange images of action shots because they don't show a huge amount of detail. But I enjoyed creating them and feel as though they could be used for something interesting like a poster or an event. I created these images by overlaying the same or different images from the same angle, rotated the images both vertically and horizontally and then applying a layer style. (as well as layer opacity and adjustment layers like brightness and contrast)

With the scanogram images I decided to do a weird horror-look to them. I did this because of how you can move objects to create a strange distorted view on it. As shown by the hand by dragging it across the glass while it's being scanned to make it seem alien. I added the zoom burst effect to the image to make it appear like it's hitting against the glass and I think this worked really well. I also used a 'HDR toning' tool to make the colours better and bring more detail out of the image as I couldn't do this with raw processing as the scans don't produce the raw images. As for the 'trapped' Image I really like the outcome of this image. Originally it was just experimenting with the scanner but it turned out to be one of my favourite images. I did the colder blurred out look again for the horror look to the image.


For the tilt shift images I went out and tried to find some fairly busy looking images with a key point of interest. I did this to experiment with how your eyes focus on the one thing that is in focus. For the landscape I decided to keep the blur a little softer gradient as there are some interesting things in the image like the different bird life in the shot and how the clouds look in the image with the clouds creating these 'light beams' in the image. Again with a little help with the HDR toning tool.

As for this image I found some old railway lines with some old tracks and carriages on them. I really liked the old derelict look to them so I decided to get a little closer, unfortunately the tracks where fenced off and there where staff in the rail yard across from these so I couldn't get too close to them. I thought that I'd like to make the blurred parts very blurred because I wanted to highlight the key area of the image.

For this I decided to do an artificial tilt shift as I didn't have the equipment to do effective tilt shift without all the images being totally blurred out. Here is a picture of the River Ribble with power lines in the shot, I decided to use this shot because I liked the composition of the image, most of the things fit on a rule of thirds and I just really liked the colours of the image.

this is the scans I did, there isn't many due to limited time space and originally did just scan the contents of my pocket but didn't really have that much interesting items on hand and if im honest I just didn't like how the images turned out so I decided to use myself as the subject with the second two using my hands and just dragging them around while the scanner was on and the third on rotating my hand to create this weird alien looking hand. Again I wasn't that pleased with the first image and tried something different. I then decided to act like i was trapped behind the glass. If I was to do this shoot again I would have used more interesting props and hopefully would have had more time.

This is a scan I took of myself, my intention was to try appear to be trapped behind or inside the screen

 I decided to add an iris blur effect to the image keeping the focus on one of my hands as it's pressed against the glass

 I then altered the saturation of the image to take out some of the color, i did this because i wanted it to be a bit less vibrant and adds a bit of emotion to the image when it's desaturated a little

I did try with a frosted glass texture on and used the erasor tool to make the effect that the frost had started to melt around where my fingertips touched the glass to add an extra effect but i think it looked better without.

I did also try the frosted texture without the erased but but I just overall preferred it without the texture.

To start with this image I decided to double expose two skate images that where similar and overlay and resize one of them so they are a similar size and angle.

I then flip and invert the image to create the flipped multiple exposure

I cropped the image like this so there wasn't any extra of the image before.

I boosted the brightness and contrast to bring out more detail from the image underneath.

 I decided to crop the image slightly to get a better view on the subject

 I then duplicated the layer then flipped it vertically then horizontally

 I adjusted the opacity to 75% so you can see the first image slightly

 I then experimented with layer styles and blending to create this

I added a brightness and contrast layer just to lighten the image up so you could see more detail

for my final six images I am going to use 3 techniques, the three techniques I am going to use are

Tilt Shift/Free Lensing.
